I had a bit of a rocky start, ran late, and missed half of the opening act, The Roots, which almost led me to cry. . . But we got there just as they began performing “You Got Me” {one of me and the man’s favorite songs}, and that made up for the rest of the night . . .
As for Ms. Badu, . . . . Erykah sure puts on a show! She’s been looking great as of late, and one of my fantasies is to see her in a piece of my jewelry . . . .
How souped up am I?? In less than 24 hours I will be sitting quite close to the stage breaking my neck like a bobble doll to the sounds of 2 of my favorite acts . . . Erykah Badu and The Roots!!
Thank you, Love {the hubbie}, for a very special Mother's Day . . .
Did anyone catch this sista over the weekend? Jill Scott has such an amazing voice! I have been listening to her since her first album was leaked months before it's release and I can't wait to hear her new music! If you missed the "mini-concert" you can catch it here.
She is looking mighty fierce as of late. huh? . . . . .
I do, I DO!! And I will be enjoying even more of it now that the time has come again for WBAI to broadcast 29 hours of some of the dopest old-school, new-school, and underground hip-hop your radio ears have ever {and unfortunately in many cases, may never} hear. The The Hip-Hop Takeover only happens twice a year so tune in. Broadcast starts at 7pm tonight and ends Saturday at midnight followed by an after~party for only the truest b-boys and gals. . . . . . . . . .
PS. Not in the tri-state area? WBAI is streamed online. . . . . . . . .
Guess who I’m going to see this weekend (hopefully)? Amel Larrieux!! I have been a fan of her music since Groove Theory (which by the way, is still in the CD changer). Her latest album, Lovely Standards, was released yesterday and although I have not purchased it yet I was lucky to get a sneak listen on rhapsody.com. She’s going to be performing at B.B. Kings this Saturday and even though I’m a vegetarian I’m going to weather the storm to hear my girl BLOW!!
