I Promise . . .

This is my last post about shoes this week!! But I couldn't resist these slippers by Report. These shoes take the black pump to the next level and are priced at the perfect level to be splurge worthy {perhaps a birthday gift to myself in the making} . . .

hate to sound like an old fart, but seriously, these shoes will ruin your feet. plus, I'm kind of opposed to the notion that mens' clothes are designed for comfort and mobility, while womens' clothes restrict and confine. I think there are other ways of looking sexy, imho. not that they don't look amazing on women, they do. it just pains me to see this trend going on.

Alright Dash!! I love this type of commentary. Your views remind me of the year I became vegan, chopped of my perm, and wore only black clothing {men’s clothing at that} for about a year. Though I completely understand where you’re coming from, I must confess, because of my own cultural and social paradox I continue to wear and enjoy the look {not the pain} of wearing 4 inch heels!! Thanx for voicing the blatant truth about my not so secret vice!!

what do you mean by your "cultural and social paradox?"

being a dancer, I've become so much more conscious of the importance of taking care of my body. sure, when I was in 8th grade, I convinced my mom to let me wear candies to my jr. high graduation. I wore the shoes exactly once. and I've been wearing 2" heels throughout the years. but seriously, 4" spikes? my bf refers to them as torture devices.

Haha. Torture devices! Well, first let me clarify a few things. I am a jewelry designer by trade and I wear jeans, t-shirts (sometimes my man’s) and ballet flats to work. On the rare occasion that I have someone to watch the midget I like to get dressed and wear a pair of my best heels. I do not wear 4 inch heels on a daily basis.

I also know that there are other ways to be sexy. Wearing heels is just one of them. My intellect, ambition, and dedication to my family are just a few more.

As far as the comment about my “cultural and social paradox”, I mean that I am inconsistent in terms of how I culturally and socially define myself . . . which is cool because that means that I am forever changing and in my book, change signifies growth. I know that physical {mental, spiritual, political} health is very important and that continuous wear of heels may lead to arthritis and a crooked spine. However, I still have a closet full of high heel shoes that I pull out whenever the rare opportunity exists. I hope that makes since, mercury is in retrograde and I’m trying hard to be concise in my response to your question. Let me know if I was or not {if not, I’ll try again}. . .

    Peace,

    Goodnis

yes, yes, I get it. the bf even brought up that point- that it's fine to wear heels to dress up, but it blows his mind to see women running all over nyc in them. and for me, it's been the huge exposure the heels are getting, seemingly without a second thought. as far as the paradox, yeah, I'd much rather not shave my legs or pluck my brows, etc., but I do.

Exactly . . . And trust me A LOT of times I don't shave my legs {or other personal places} or pluck the brows if I don't feel like it!!
