Ms. Stress . . . .

Thursday, September 13, 2007

Mama's {me that is} has been a little stressed with the creation of Aquarian Thoughts and being a mother and a wife-to-be {no, still no date set} and the new freelance schedule and getting our place together and just living in general . . . So instead of shopping till I dropped {or cried with buyer's remorse} I decided to do a little de-stressing by attacking my senses with some goodnis . . .

1. First I start with music. A little Billie Holiday does it every time. Something about her voice is very soothing and automatically relaxes me. My favorite tune, I Love You Porgy, happens to be one of the more depressing songs, but I love it nonetheless . . .

2. A drop or two of tea tree oil massaged behind the ears or on the temples instantaneously calms my nerves. Since tea tree oil is usually sold in such small bottles, you can carry this with you to work and use it throughout the day.

3. Incense are great for more than covering up some naughty habits. Incense are great tools of aromatherapy as well. My all time favorite scent is Nag Champa, but incense come in a variety of scents and can be purchased at most bath and body shops. {PS. Not into the smoke created by incense? Try an oil burner!}

4. Luckily enough I was blessed with a little midget with a great sense of humor. Finger painting with him {especially with paints that require very little cleaning} helps me realize what's really important and takes my mind off of everything else.

5. Lastly a warm bath using Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Soap can help create the perfect ending to a stressful day. Just add two capfuls to running water and relax . . . the bonus . . . the packaging serves as great reading material as you soak . . .

Is there anything you do to relax? Care to share? . . . Now excuse me as I return to pulling out my hair . . .

    Good ideas! I love the mix though I find Lady Day's lyrics a tad sad for relaxing but the tempo is always perfect.
