My Dream Closet

Tuesday, August 28, 2007

Now that the wedding is over and I can focus on Aquarian Thoughts full-time, I am more than anxious to get our place together, especially my new work space. I happen to be a bit obsessive about my organization {I too color coordinate my books} and I would love to have my new closet space somehow resemble this {of course, from Domino Magazine}.

Because I'm sharing this space with the hubbie, I have to find a more realistic way to store my shoes. I'm thinking of using one of my old book shelves, pushing it into the corner of the closet {the closet spans an entire wall even bigger than in the above photo, thank goodnis} and using the shelves to display, er. . store, that is, . . . my shoes. Anything will be better than this . . . . .

First, I must say I admire your shoe collection. You can donnate to me anytime. I have many practical solutions. You can place them under your bed with the help of bed lifters that are $9.99 at Bed, Bath & Beyond. You can stack them in plastic shoe boxes that are $1.99-$3.99 each here in Atlanta. You can hang them on doors. I bought a shoe (over the door) hanger at Bed, Bath & Beyond that holds 30 pairs of shoes for $9.99. See here: http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?order_num=-1&SKU=11849857&RN=302.
    I hope this helps!!! :)

Thanx so much for the advice, Sophia! I actually already utilize option one, with the bed lifts and storage boxes, but it becomes a hassle come winter time and I have to store boots {not shown above, although my boot collection is relatively small--- oops, tangent}. I like the idea of storage boxes, but it partially makes me feel as if I'm adding more clutter to my small space. I will have to think about it some more. Again thanx so much for the info, and for always leaving useful comments. . . .

I have those multi-snake print pumps from Baker's too! (tangent)

Also, here is a good solution for boots especially if you don't have a truck of them like me. http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?order_num=-1&SKU=10212804

Hey, what's up with all the shoes beloved you only have two feet. Anyway I bet hubby's shoe stash doesnt take up alot of space.. May be you should build a sub-level shoe c;oset that works by remote & hydrolic jack that way you can hide all your shoes and keep them safe from you friends. LoL

Just a thought (not Aquarian though, Libra)
